Diwali with Friends

Diwali with Friends

Last October, we celebrated the intersection of cultures and traditions for Black and Brown communities, honouring their vibrant heritage, rich history, and resilient legacies during Black History Month and Diwali .

A special Diwali dinner featuring the talents of Chef Ravneet Gill and Baker Tarunima Sinha took place on the 30th of October 2024 at The Standard, London.

Creative & Film Director Priya Ahluwalia has curated a special shelf of books in their Library Lounge in honour of this celebration.

Among the selections are:

  • Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, is a powerful exploration of the legacy of slavery across generations.
  • India in Africa, Africa in India, edited by John C. Hawley, highlights the complex historical ties between the two regions.
  • Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo, is a narrative that weaves together the lives of various characters, exploring themes of identity and community.

These titles are now available for guests visiting the lounge.
