Last October, we celebrated the intersection of cultures and traditions for Black and Brown communities, honouring their vibrant heritage, rich history, and resilient legacies during Black History Month and Diwali .
A special Diwali dinner featuring the talents of Chef Ravneet Gill and Baker Tarunima Sinha took place on the 30th of October 2024 at The Standard, London.
Creative & Film Director Priya Ahluwalia has curated a special shelf of books in their Library Lounge in honour of this celebration.
Among the selections are:
- Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, is a powerful exploration of the legacy of slavery across generations.
- India in Africa, Africa in India, edited by John C. Hawley, highlights the complex historical ties between the two regions.
- Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo, is a narrative that weaves together the lives of various characters, exploring themes of identity and community.
These titles are now available for guests visiting the lounge.
